Should Astrology Be Considered A Science?

Would you consider astrology to be a real science that would be taught at universities with the same passion and reverence as other sciences? Well if you happen to live in India than that is exactly what is being done as the Bombay High court and the Indian supreme court have both in favor of astrology. What does that mean exactly you may be wondering well it means that the study of interplanetary alignments as the explanation for everything is a legitimate science  just like biology, chemistry and all the other sciences.

In the land of India where astrology is used to decided such important things from planning your wedding date to deciding political agendas this ruling by the court was a welcome decision. When it comes to the rest of the world of course this logic may not be considered logical at all. Let’s look at the definitions of astrology and science to really get a feel for this thing.

Astrology is by definition the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs. Then you have the term science which is defined by a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws. Honestly I really don’t get where the debate is on this issue as if you simply based it on the definition astrology by it’s very nature does not fit the very definition of science. I feel like a big part of the issue is the fact that actual word to describe the study of heavenly bodies as the ology at the end of it.

I totally get the idea behind astrology and why so many people believe in it’s mystical studies and how they relate to human affairs I just don’t think it needs to be labeled as a science. It simply does not fit the very definition of science and I am OK with that. What say you webfolk? Do we really need to label astrology as a science for it to be a legitimate thing that people look to for guidance? Leave your interesting responses in the comments section down below.

Kudos to you webfolk ;-)
