The Chinese new year is upon us and less than two weeks away this year it falls on the 26th of January and it is the year of the earth ox. Did you know that 2009 is actually 4706 on the Chinese calendar? So it’s the end of the year of the rat and beginning of the year of the ox, what does that mean for people that pay attention to the Chinese calendar? What does the year of the earth ox mean for every child that will be born in this year? When was the last time we saw the year of an earth ox?
Well let’s start with some of the easy questions first the last time we saw the combination of earth being one of the five elements in Chinese astrology and the ox one of the 12 animals was back on January 29th of 2009 to February 16th of 1950. We only see certain combinations of elements and animals every fifty years so if this is a good year for you in the Chinese astrological chart than get ready to live it up
In terms of what this means for babies that are born this year I will not pretend to know how to read all the charts. I will how ever point you to a couple of websites where you can find some good information on year of the earth ox and how the charts line up for everyone this year. These two sites in particular I found to be very useful in breaking down Chinese horoscopes, they are ProAstro and Geomancy both were very helpful.
For all of you that do follow the Chinese calendar I hope you had a good year of the rat and I wish you much luck in the new year of the earth ox!
